Emergency Announcements

Through a partnership with the City of Alexandria, ACPS sends information about snow closings, school lockdowns and other types of emergency information to your cell phone, pager, BlackBerry, PDA and/or e-mail account. To sign up for this emergency notification service, visit the City of Alexandria's E-news registration page. ACPS Emergency Announcements is one of many City news lists to which you can subscribe. Please note that ACPS Emergency News is a different list than the City's Emergency News. For school information, make sure you sign up for ACPS.

For emergency announcements, e-mail notifications are sent out as soon as decisions are reached but Internet conditions can significantly delay their arrival. Being on the notification list is not a substitute for monitoring your local media (newspapers, radio, TV and so on) in situations where a delay in opening or school closing is an obvious possibility (such as when the weather forecast calls for snow). The ACPS information hotline, 703-866-5300, is updated even before any media calls are made. Emergency announcements are also posted on our Web site at http://www.acps.k12.va.us/emergency/.
