Before- and After-school Care

To accommodate working parents' schedules, there is a before- and after-school care program available to elementary school students, including kindergartners.

The Campagna Center operates Campagna Kids, a before- and after-school care program at all elementary schools. The before-school care program starts at 7 a.m. while the after-school care program runs from 2 to 6 p.m. Registration for before- or after-school care is a separate process from the school's kindergarten registration. Fees are determined according to annual household income. For more information, please call the Campagna Center at 703-549-0111.

The Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities offers an Out of School Time Program during the school year directly after school until 6:00 p.m. at seven neighborhood recreation centers and five school sites (John Adams, Douglas MacArthur, Durant/Houston, George Washington Middle School, and Francis C. Hammond Middle School). There is a $25 activity fee per session (fall, winter, and summer). Financial assistance available for eligible families. Visit the neighborhood center to pick up a registration packet for that location. For additional information call 703-838-4345 or visit
