Reach Your Peak by Eating a Rainbow of Color


Children and adults should eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables (2 1/2 cups) each day.

Eat Your Colors

When choosing foods, think of the rainbow, and remember to Eat Your Colors. Fruits and vegetables can be categorized by color, and each category provides specific nutrients and phytochemicals.

RED: red apples, cranberries, red grapes, pomegranates, raspberries, strawberries, watermelon, pink or red grapefruit, tomatoes, radishes, radicchio, red peppers, and red onions.

BLUE/PURPLE: raisins, blackberries, plums, purple grapes, eggplant, and purple cabbage.

WHITE: bananas, white nectarines, white peaches, garlic, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions, and potatoes.

GREEN: green apples, green grapes, kiwi fruit, honeydew melon, avocado, broccoli, spinach, zucchini, lettuce, celery, and asparagus.

YELLOW/ORANGE: yellow apples, apricots, cantaloupe, oranges, peaches, nectarines, mangoes, grapefruit, pineapple, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet corn, yellow tomatoes, lemon, and sweet potatoes.
