Mascot: The Jaguar

In 2010, Jefferson-Houston students chose the jaguar as the school mascot. We believe the jaguar embodies the qualities of curiosity, confidence, commitment and independence.

Paw Award Jefferson-Houston School awards a "paw" to promote student courtesy and etiquette. Teachers encourage students to:

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Safe
  • Be Your Best

The teacher distributes paws to the student when the student demonstrates one of these values. When giving the paw, the teacher explains to the student what the teacher noticed and why the teacher appreciated the behavior. The student's name is written on the wall and posted on a display wall in the school lobby.
