Parent Handbook: Homework
Homework is an important part of your child's education. If your child faces consistent problems understanding or completing assignments, or if you feel that homework is lacking, excessive or inappropriate, please arrange a conference with the teacher to discuss your concerns. Please do not contact the administration about homework issues until you have discussed them with your child's teacher.
Here are some homework tips to help ensure that this is a positive, stress-free experience for your children.
- Provide a study area that is quiet, calm, spacious, well lit and comfortable.
- Make certain that your child has all the necessary materials (paper, pencils, books, ruler, etc.) before they begin to work.
- Establish a specific time period when homework is to be done and enforce it daily.
- Maintain a positive attitude about homework yourself.
- Check your child's backpack for assignments after school and make sure they have completed and packed the assignments before leaving for school.
- Give assistance as needed, but please remember that homework is your child's responsibility.
