Courageous Conversations: A Look at ACPS Middle Schools

Results from Table Conversation - Saturday, February 26, 2011

On Saturday, February 26, 2011, Alexandria City Public Schools sponsored, Courageous Conversations: A Look at ACPS Middle Schools at the Minnie Howard Campus of T.C. Williams High School. More than 120 students, parents and family members, citizens, representatives from community organizations and city agencies, and ACPS staff participated in the conversations. Families in attendance were representative of the diversity of students who attend our six middle schools. View photos from the event.

Participants were asked to answer three important questions:

  1. What seems to be working well in our middle schools?
  2. What real challenges are our middle schools faced with?
  3. What key things need to happen to achieve great middle schools? And what are you willing to do to make that happen?

Based on your feedback, we can see what ACPS families and the Alexandria community view as our successes and areas in need of improvement. This knowledge is valuable as we work together to transform our middle schools from good to great!

Follow the links below to read comments from the three questions and the feedback forms. If you were not able to attend the middle school forum, we want to hear from you. Take a few minutes to share your thoughts on the above three questions.
