Intersessions

Students at Mount Vernon Community School participate in a variety of both remediation and enrichment classes. Intersession offers hands-on learning through classes like sailing, cooking, foreign language, art, science, dance and tae kwon do. Students also receive academic support through reading and writing remediation, math remediation and science remediation. Our students are enthusiastic and excited about each intersession. Here are a few testimonials from students.

"What I like about intersession is that there are so many choices for classes. I took classes that were interesting and exciting." — third grade student

"The thing I like about intersession is that you are in school, but the student learns more and different things in class than in normal school. I loved all the intersession classes. I have been in Ciao Italia!, Fitness, MVTV (Mount Vernon Television) and others. Intersession is good because there are different kids in your class. Intersession is both fun and educational." — fourth grade student

"I like intersession because there are kids in my classes that I would have never spoken to in regular classes. I also liked my classes because I got to learn things that I don't get a chance to learn about during the regular school day. I wish that I could take all the intersession classes I wanted." — fifth grade student

During the 2011-2012 school year, intersessions will be held:

  • October 3-14, 2011
  • January 2-6, 2012 (pending)
  • April 9-20, 2012
