Principal:
Tina Radomsky
Tina Radomsky, an experienced educator with a strong commitment to helping children learn to meet the global demands of the 21st century, is the principal of Mount Vernon Community School. Ms. Radomsky has a Master of Education degree in Policy Studies and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois/Chicago. She completed the Executive Leadership Program, to become a Trainer of Trainers, at the National Institute for School Leadership, and she completed the Superintendent Program at Western Illinois University.
Ms. Radomsky taught in School District U-46 of Elgin, Ill., where she also spent four years as executive director of elementary education. The district serves more than 40,000 children in grades pre-kindergarten through 12 and ranks as the second largest in Illinois, with more than 6,000 English Language Learners and 40 percent free and reduced lunch students. Ms. Radomsky also served as principal at two School District U-46 elementary schools between 1994 and 2005, and previously served as an assistant principal in Rockford, Ill. She also taught elementary and middle-school grades in Illinois, Texas and Puerto Rico.
Bilingual and bicultural, Ms. Radomsky speaks and writes fluent Spanish and has taught bilingual and literacy classes. Her professional achievements include a wealth of leadership training, presentations on "Principal Professional Learning Communities" and "Leading in Diverse Schools" and in-service programs on such topics as "Best Practice in Literacy Instruction" and "Instructional Strategies for Integrating Math and Science." She has served on the Midwest Principal's Center/Program Committee, Illinois State Board of Education Gifted Advisory Committee, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, International Reading Association, Partnership for Excellence in Learning Council, Language Arts Curriculum Adoption Committee, and the District At-Risk and Bilingual committees.
