More than 350 Students and Parents Attend Patrick Henry Family Literacy Night
Cheers to the successful turnout of Patrick Henry Elementary School's annual Family Literacy Night held on May 2. Patrick Henry's staff and volunteers engaged the more than 350 students and families in attendance with activities such as interactive read- alouds, bookmark making, literacy website exploration and relaxing and reading in the Book Nook. Students added their written contributions to the Patrick Henry Never Ending Story!
Parents had the opportunity to learn various literacy development strategies and to gain a deeper understanding of Patrick Henry's new reading program, "Success for All," in order to help their students at home and to encourage a love of reading! Margo Chisholm, a librarian from Beatley Library, was on hand to help students sign up for public library cards.
The Continentals Organization hosted dinner. Attendees entered a free raffle for a chance to win themed book baskets, thanks to a donation from the Brookville-Seminary Valley Civic Association. In addition, thanks to a generous donation from the National PTA, every student in attendance was able to choose a book to take home.
