Youth Arts Festival Auditions to Take Place on May 24

The Alexandria City Public Schools Center for the Arts K-12 on Thursday, May 24, will hold student performing arts auditions and visual arts presentations for the third annual Alexandria Youth Arts Festival, spearheaded by the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority. As a new partner for this initiative, the Center for the Arts is offering support to the event committee.

Auditions and presentations will take place from 3:30-9 p.m. in the auditorium at T.C. Williams High School, 3330 King St., Alexandria. Students who are interested in participating in the festival, which will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, should contact Jason Ellis at or 703-535-3175 or Shawn Thorpe at or 703-824-6875 to secure audition or presentation times. Adults may only participate by leading an interactive activity for youth and families.

This year's festival theme is "The Artist Within." All artistic forms of expression are welcome, including singing, dancing, theatre, modeling, juggling, cheerleading teams, dance teams, step teams, poetry/spoken word, rap, bands, visual arts/ceramics/sculpture, photography, TV/video presentations and puppet skits.
