Jefferson-Houston Students Enjoy Up-Close Look at Career Opportunities
Jefferson-Houston School's first class of eighth-graders explored the working world during career shadow days at Alexandria businesses and city offices. Students shadowed internationally syndicated cartoonist Steve Artley and explored careers in art at the Torpedo Factory with Alexandria artist Lisa Schumaier.
The "Alexandria Times" also hosted students, who spent time with pet columnist and business owner Isabel Alvarez to see how to channel their interest in animals into future jobs. The City of Alexandria's Finance Department showed Jefferson-Houston students various opportunities in the city.
The career shadowing program will continue in the 2012-13 school year. If interested in participating, please contact Justin Girard at .
