John Adams Orff Ensemble Earns Two Standing Ovations at University Concert!
The John Adams Orff Ensemble was rehearsing and performing even on the last day of the school year! On Wednesday, June 20, students arrived at school at 5:30 in the morning to load their instruments and travel to the University of Maryland in College Park. They performed at the 2012 U.S. Public Health Service Scientific and Training Symposium. The Orff Ensemble performed for the program presenting awards by the Minority Officers Liaison Council. Attendees, consisting of Department of Health and Human Services senior leaders and Commissioned Corps senior leaders and officers, gave the students two standing ovations for their performance. This was the last concert for 10 members of the Orff Ensemble, who will move on to middle school in September. It was also the first college campus visit for many of the students.
