Excavation, Grading and Retention System Highlight First Phase of Hammond Field Project

Construction is under way to provide Francis C. Hammond Middle School Campus students and the Alexandria community at large with a full-size, all-weather turf sports field. The completed first phase of the $1.8 million project includes excavation, grading and a retention system. The storm water management system at the lower parking lot is being finalized. Next will be the curb installation, which is scheduled to start next week. The turf will be installed at the end of the summer, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 20.
