Administrators, Facilitators Attend Success for All Conference in Baltimore

Seven Alexandria City Public Schools administrators and Success for All (SFA) reading program facilitators from John Adams and Patrick Henry elementary schools and Mount Vernon Community School spent the past week at the SFA New Leaders Conference in Baltimore, Md., to prepare for their role as leaders in SFA schools for the 2012-13 school year.

Conference participants planned for first- (Mount Vernon) or second-year (John Adams and Patrick Henry) implementation and networked with other educators from SFA sites all over the country. Conference sessions focused on school-wide concepts, classroom structures and best practices to ensure success in reading for all students. Participants also looked at key data points and planned how to monitor progress and use the continuous improvement process throughout the school year as a way to ensure that everyone and everything is aligned to and focused on student achievement in their schools.

Participants included Paul George and Andrea Drone from John Adams; Michael Routhouska and Paulette Jones from Patrick Henry; and Peter Balas, Elizabeth Namba and Lisa Bryson from Mount Vernon.
