Marching Titans Compete in State Assessment on Saturday

Don't miss your last opportunity to see the T.C. Williams Marching Titans compete during 2012. The band will participate in the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA) Marching Band Assessment on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Patriot High School, 10504 Kettle Run Road, Nokesville, Va. Spectators should arrive by 11:30 a.m. to watch the Marching Titans' performance, which will start at 12:15 p.m. Scores will be announced at 1:15 p.m.

Seven judges will apply the VBODA criteria to assess the band's performance in several dimensions and will assign an overall score of Superior (I), Excellent (II) or Good (III). The three Musical Effects judges rate Composition (technical content, idiomatic interpretation and more) and Execution (tone quality, phrasing and expression and more). Two General Effects judges evaluate Music Effect (musicianship, creativity and more) and Visual Effect (audio/visual coordination, pacing/continuity and more). Two Visual Effects judges score Visual Composition (staging, unity of all elements and more) and Visual Execution (precision, individual technique and more).

Learn more with these actual score sheets from the VBODA site. Find more information by following the VBODA link on the T.C. Williams Band Boosters' website. Last year, the Marching Titans missed a Superior rating by just one point!
