All are welcome, but tickets are expected to sell out. Performances will take place at 7 p.m. on Fridays, April 12 and 19, and Saturdays, April 13 and 20. A preschool performance at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, will feature special seating for children ages 7 and younger. Performances will take place in the George Washington auditorium, 1005 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria. Tickets, available for $5 apiece and payable by cash or check only, will go on sale 45 minutes before each performance.
Based on the 1985 novel "My Love, My Love," or "The Peasant Girl" by Rosa Guy, and set in the French Antilles in the Caribbean Sea, the story concerns a peasant girl on a tropical island, who uses the power of love to bring together people of different social classes. It's part Greek myth, part Shakespeare, and offers powerful lessons about growing up and challenging the status quo.
