Theatre Club LLC - in partnership with the City of Alexandria's Human Rights Commission, the Alexandria Black History Museum, the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, Office of the Arts and the Alexandria Commission for the Arts - announces open auditions for the stage production of "The Rose that Grew from Concrete." Auditions, open to high-school students ages of 14 to 18, will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Charles Houston Recreation Center, 905 Wythe St.

Two ACPS "modified calendar" schools - Mount Vernon Community School and Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School - offer three intersessions throughout the school year, featuring a wide selection of both remedial and special-interest classes.
