Registration Opens on Feb. 1 for Monthly Planetarium Show

Registration opens at approximately noon on Monday, Feb. 1, for the February community planetarium show, to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at the T.C. Williams High School Planetarium. Spectators should arrive by 7 p.m. to pick up their tickets in the lobby. The program will run from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Back by popular demand, "Fly Me to the Moon," will look at the moon's role in determining our calendar and dates of religious holidays and its influence on popular songs, famous book titles and even our tides. As usual, the show will conclude with a walk across the night sky.

This is the sixth in a series of free monthly planetarium shows open to the community. Other scheduled dates are March 23 ("The Reasons for the Seasons and an Introduction to the Spring Sky"), April 27, May 25 and June 15 ("The Reasons for the Seasons and an Introduction to the Summer Sky").

Seating, available only by advance reservation, is limited and fills up quickly. Register online at www.acps.k12.va.us/tcw/planetarium/ or by calling the planetarium at 703-824-6805, extension 6300. Registration for each session opens at approximately noon on the first Monday of each month. Enrollment is limited to the first 35 people who register.
