Alexandria Students to Compete in Odyssey of the Mind on March 6


Three student teams will represent Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) at the Region 8 Odyssey of the Mind competition to be held on Saturday, March 6, at West Potomac High School, 6500 Quander Road, Alexandria. Two teams from Matthew Maury Elementary School and one team from Francis C. Hammond Middle School will compete.

Last year, Maury was the first and only ACPS school to send teams to the regional competition, which includes Arlington and part of Fairfax County. The full event schedule is posted online on the NOVA East OM Web site. ACPS teams, who have been working hard for a few months now, will compete at the following times:

  • Column Structure Division I: Maury Team 1 at 10:20 a.m. Gunston building, Room 100
  • Discovered Treasures Division I: Maury Team 2 at 11:10 a.m., Springbank building, Room 519 (Dance Studio)
  • Food Court Division II: Hammond Middle School at 1:40 p.m., Springbank building, Room 528 (Choral)
