Video Images of Elementary Construction Projects

Alexandria City Public Schools is pleased to provide construction video from both James K. Polk and John Adams elementary schools.

James K. Polk:
Watch the progress of the construction of the gymnasium addition at James K. Polk Elementary on the Internet. Now that most of the geothermal wells have been drilled, the focus of the work will shift to the new gymnasium. A fixed site camera will stream images via Internet in real time, twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. Among the exciting milestones to watch: preparation of the foundations for the gymnasium, installation of the utilities, erection of the precast concrete wall and roof panels, and the installation of the vegetated roof.

John Adams Elementary school:
The highlight of the construction activity will occur next week, when the modular classroom units will be craned into place onto their permanent foundations. While this is anticipated to be an awesome and exciting event, we want to exercise caution to ensure safety for everyone involved. For this reason, we are taking extra precautions, in the form of barricades and security personnel, to control and direct any person not directly involved with the construction. Please follow the instructions of the security personnel and the way-finding signs that you will find when approaching the site. A special area will be set aside for those intending to view the action, however, please note that live streaming video will be available on the Internet.
