Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent Morton Sherman welcomes Dr. Rosario Casiano as Principal of William Ramsay Elementary School, effective Aug. 16.
"We are fortunate to bring to Ramsay Elementary School someone with the experience and success of Dr. Casiano," Dr. Sherman said. "Her many successes focus on creating opportunities for students to learn and grow in remarkable ways. I know that the staff and educational family at Ramsay will welcome Dr. Casiano with enthusiasm and great expectations for high achievement for our students."
Dr. Casiano comes to Alexandria City Public Schools from Trenton, N.J., where she served as an elementary school principal. During her tenure, the number of students reading at grade level doubled and the number of items listed by the state for corrective action was reduced to zero. Prior to becoming a principal, Dr. Casiano was director of curriculum for Westhampton Public Schools in New Jersey and vice principal at Rosa International Middle School in Cherry Hill, N.J. She has experience with both Title I and International Baccalaureate (IB) schools.
Dr. Casiano, who is fluent in Spanish, earned a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish from West Liberty University, a Master's in Spanish Language and Literature from Villanova University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Wilmington University.
Early childhood education students intern with the Alexandria Head Start program and provide assistance at the Tiny Titan Daycare Center housed in T.C. Williams High School.
