Monica A. Taylor is the new associate principal at George Washington Middle School 2. Ms. Taylor most recently served as assistant principal at the McKinley Technology STEM High School in Washington, D.C.
A visionary educational administrator with experience in urban school leadership, state-level and nonprofit program development, management and evaluation, Ms. Taylor holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Regent University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Norfolk State University. She also is a New Leaders for New Schools Fellow, Washington, D.C., Program Cohort. She took post-graduate studies in Urban Education at the University of Pennsylvania, and she has a District of Columbia Professional Certification in Administrative Services K-12.
Ms. Taylor also served as interim principal at Eastern Senior High School and assistant principal at Calvin Coolidge Senior High School, both in Washington, D.C. She also served as resident principal, New Leaders for New Schools, at the District's Fletcher Johnson Educational Center.
Ms. Taylor served as an education program specialist for the Maryland State Department of Education, where she monitored PreK-12 schools and postsecondary educational programs accredited through the Maryland State Department of Education. She also taught nine-grade English/Language Arts at C.D. Hylton Senior High School in Prince William County Public Schools.
Early childhood education students intern with the Alexandria Head Start program and provide assistance at the Tiny Titan Daycare Center housed in T.C. Williams High School.
