Eight T.C. Williams High School students attended the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium at Georgetown University last week. During the two-day symposium, students listened to presentations of original science research and toured lab facilities at Georgetown University, the Army Research Lab and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for students to see what scientists really do on a daily basis," says Shawn Lowe, who teaches the Science Research class at T.C. Williams. "I wish I could take more students to this highly selective event."
The participating students included Stephanie Slaven, Eileen Nakahatu, Emily Breeding, Alexandra Lemke, Ann Lawrence, Christopher Gerlach, Zoe Gildersleeve and Connor Quatannens.
Students enrolled in criminal justice courses intern (ride along) with the Alexandria Police Department.
