Alexandria Police Department and Alexandria Court Service Unit to Join

Alexandria, Va. — Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS), along with the Alexandria City Police Department will host a community meeting on Safety in Our Schools on Tuesday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at T.C. Williams High School, 3330 King St., Alexandria.

The public is invited for a discussion about procedures that each school uses to ensure student safety. Community members who access school buildings and interact with ACPS students and staff also play an important role in school security and need to be kept updated on safety measures.

Participants will learn more about how school resource officers, student services teams, court services liaisons and others help maintain a safe school environment. Lockdown procedures and other safety measures that involve and affect the community will also be discussed.

This meeting will also provide information about the individual roles that the school division, the police and court services play in keeping our students safe. Representatives from each organization will be on hand to answer questions from participants. Police Chief Earl Cook and ACPS Superintendent Morton Sherman will be on hand to listen and share with the community about the integrated safety services provided to students.
