James K. Polk Elementary School

James K. Polk will begin Uniformed Dress Program in the Fall

Jacob Foster, as a part of his Eagle Scott Project, started the renovation of the Polk outdoor amphitheater. He spent countless hours planning, drilling and building to give the amphitheater a much needed face lift. The funding and beautification phase was completed by BBT and BridgeTrust Title as a part of their BridgeTrust Title Lighthouse Project. Employees came out for a full day to complete the beautification planting trees and staining the amphitheater. This project was a huge success!
Volunteers were celebrated at our Volunteer Tea where the cheerleaders performed and students read out loud to show their appreciation.
Christiano Rice is the Polk recipient of a service award from the Alexandria Optimist International Sunrise Club for his excellent citizenship at school and in the community. Cristiano is a co-farmer assisting his grandpa Jerry Brill who farms a plot at the local community garden in Arlington and gives over 90% of the produce back to the community.
The magic man came to encourage us to "Read for the Win" as a part of the ACPS PTAC and public libraries Summer Reading Initiative.
