Summary of Student Survey Results on Teen Wellness Center

(not all respondents answered every question)

  • About 450 students responded to a survey about the proposed Teen Wellness Center at T.C. Williams High School.
  • Over 80% of respondents said they would use the services. About 45% have visited the Adolescent Health Center in its current location.
  • About 57% thought the best location for the center would be inside T.C. Williams High School (29% said it should stay in its current location).
  • Most respondents said the best time of day for teens to receive health services is during lunch or after school.
  • Respondents said the top major health needs/problems for students at T.C. Williams are (in order):
  1. unplanned pregnancies
  2. alcohol and drug abuse
  3. need for birth control
  4. depression/lack of sleep
  5. sexually transmitted infections
  6. overweight/eating disorders
  7. poor access to health care
  8. lack of health insurance
