A Message from Superintendent Morton Sherman

I have been made aware of recent allegations of inappropriate contact between a staff member at T.C. Williams High School and students. The Alexandria Police Department has been contacted and is currently conducting an investigation into that allegation. In an effort to keep parents informed, T.C. Williams Principal Suzanne Maxey sent a letter home with students today making parents aware of the situation. The staff member involved has resigned and is no longer in the school building.

While ACPS cannot make specific comments on personnel issues regarding school staff or active investigations, we want our families to know that the administration will not tolerate any misconduct or inappropriate behavior between staff and students and will do all possible to keep it out of our classrooms.

Whenever there is any accusation of misconduct on the part of a teacher or any staff members; we fully cooperate with law enforcement authorities and encourage full investigation of the accusations. Most importantly, we take all possible measures to protect and support our students including counseling services as needed. Alexandria Police have indicated that because this is an active investigation, no further details will be released at this time.

We will do our best to keep you updated. In the meantime, if your high school student has any concerns or needs any support at this time, please contact Principal Maxey at 703-824-6800.
