T.C. Williams School Counseling Department
VISION: T. C. Williams High School students have the knowledge, skills, experiences and attitudes they need to live balanced, fulfilling and rewarding lives. Our students are confident, courageous, collaborative and resilient. They believe in their ability to make a positive difference in the world and have well-established networks of support that they readily use to further their aspirations and advocate for others. Our students are passionate learners who demonstrate ethical decision-making and social responsibility while acknowledging and valuing differences as well as universal commonalities.
MISSION: All T. C. Williams High School students benefit from a comprehensive, data-informed school counseling program that addresses the individual and collective needs of our diverse student population. By forging relationships and establishing networks of support throughout the community, school counselors ensure that all students get what they need to reach their highest potential, develop into confident and well-prepared citizens and have viable post-secondary options. The school counseling department collaborates with other educators and stakeholders to advocate for equity, access and success for each and every student.
GUIDING QUESTION: How are our students different as a result of the work that we do?
School Counseling Announcements
Please join us on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the T. C. Williams King Street campus for our Curriculum Night & Course Fair. This annual event serves as the kick-off for the academic advisement and course selection process for the upcoming school year.
Throughout the evening, students and their families can roam through our Course Fair to learn more about the many courses we have available at T. C. Williams High School. Teachers and students will be on hand to showcase their talents and answer your questions. The Course Fair is held in the cafeteria and opens at 5:30 p.m.
In addition to the Course Fair, the following presentations will take place:
5:30-6:00 p.m. Titans Rising: Welcome Class of 2024
We know the transition to high school is both exciting and scary, so our evening will begin with a 30-minute presentation geared just for rising ninth graders and their families. The ninth grade counselors will guide you through high school graduation requirements, course offerings and sequencing.
6:10-6:40 p.m. Rising Tenth Graders: King Street Campus, Here We Come!
Moving from ninth to tenth grade is another big step for many students. School counselors will deliver a 30-minute presentation reviewing the graduation requirements and tenth grade courses. We will leave time for a Q & A session!
Students and families can also attend presentations to learn more about the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Academy and the Governor’s Health Sciences Academy at T.C. Williams High School.
Students currently enrolled in Honors, AP and Dual Enrollment courses will be available to answer questions and share their experiences in our most rigorous courses.
