Cora Kelly's School Psychologist

Megan Vaganek, School Psychologist
Megan Vaganek has been the school psychologist at Cora Kelly since Fall 2012 and she is assigned to the school five days a week. Originally from New Jersey, she has been in the DC Metro area for the past 10 years. She earned bachelor's degrees in Psychology and German from The Pennsylvania State University. She earned her master's specialist degree and PhD from the University of Maryland. She lives in Maryland with her husband, toddler, and two dogs.
Megan works with students, staff and families in a variety of capacities. At Cora Kelly, Dr. Vaganek provides academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support for students in both general and special education settings. Specific responsibilities include individual and group counseling services, psychoeducational and character education lessons for classrooms, psychoeducational assessments for special education and gifted programs, and school-based prevention and intervention plans. She also consults and collaborates with staff, families, and the community and is a member of the crisis response team. Dr. Vaganek chairs Child Study and Eligibility meetings and facilitate Cora Kelly's the MTSS process. Dr. Vaganek is the team leader for Cora Kelly's Student Support Team, otherwise known as the Cougar Support Team. She works in close collaboration with CK's school social worker, school counselor, school nurse, and administration.
