Tucker Runners on Track (T.R.O.T.)
T.R.O.T. is a run/walk program in the spring designed just for Tucker students to help students develop cardiovascular endurance skills and increase their self-esteem, self-confidence and build healthy habits. We strive to reach all of these goals by training students in grades 3-5 for a 5K race.
Throughout the six weeks of training, the students will participate in a variety of workouts. During each session, the students will participate in activities that focus on wellness as well as training for the race.
Our mission is to provide a positive outlet and learning experiences that will give children the tools they need to lead a healthy and active life. Our mission is fulfilled through the commitment of educating girls and boys on how to be physically active through a run/walk program. The T.R.O.T. program focuses on the concepts of wellness that cover topics from nutrition, mental health (how you think), emotional health (feelings), and social interactions.
A critical component of our program is tailoring it to fit the needs of our population. This is accomplished through meeting with our team to determine current issues that are affecting their lives and developing strategies to handle them effectively.
Dates and Times
After the completion of the nine-week program, the students will compete in a 5k race sponsored by T.R.O.T. and the Tucker PTA. After-school bus transportation will be provided for those students who need it.
