    STEM  Grant

    Purpose: The purpose of this program is to support the funding agency's mission to improve the lives of people all across the world. Funding will support schools that promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs that go beyond the textbook for grades K-12. Funding will also support colleges/universities for scholarships, equipment, and products. Schools may receive funding for these same costs, plus funding for student science camps and science teacher training. Additionally, funds will assist science institutions, including museums, in efforts that further science education.

    Lockheed Martin Corporation Philanthropic Giving Grant

    Purpose: The purpose of this program is to primarily support science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and military and veteran causes. Support will be provided in the following areas:

    • STEM education: outreach activities for students from elementary school through college; support may be provided for projects, events, and campaigns that focus on student achievement, teacher development, and gender and ethnic diversity
    • Military and veteran support: projects that provide military and veteran support, assistance to military members and their families, empower veterans in transition, and honor the legacy of all veterans. Funding requests should be for specific programming, as capital campaigns are only approved on an exception basis.

    Examples of initiatives previously supported under the STEM education focus area include:

    • A program that seeks to help young people develop their engineering and technology passion and proficiency through new high-quality robotics curricula, use of digital technologies, robotics clubs, and competitions
    • A pilot program that connects Lockheed Martin volunteers with girls ages 9-12 to strengthen their interest and confidence in pursuing STEM education and careers
    • The development of STEM-focused film “edutainment” projects that reach teachers and students with multimedia classroom activities, teachers’ guides, and White Board and Smartboard content
