Sherry Ganuelas

 

Mrs. Ganuelas is starting her 24th year of teaching.  She has been with ACPS since 2011, with this being her second year at JAES.  As a military “brat” and now a military spouse, she moved many times but loves that Virginia is her forever home. 

She holds a B.A. in psychology from the University of Colorado and a M.A. in school and clinical counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. Recently, Mrs. Ganuelas earned her English as a Second Language endorsement from the University of Virginia.  Mrs. G is committed to the success of all students based on strong relationships, high expectations, and data driven instruction.

In her free time, Mrs. G and her husband enjoy spending time with their four children.

Kimberly Tinsley

 

Kimberly Tinsley has been teaching at John Adams for nine years.  She has been a teacher for sixteen years, teaching in both Pennsylvania and Virginia. Tinsley has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Minor in African and African American Studies as well as a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.

Edwin Vélez

 

Edwin Vélez is the 3rd grade Dual Language math, science and Spanish teacher inspired to enhance learning through cultural diversity and classroom experiences. He joined the faculty of John Adams in 2016.  He holds a Master's and a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education from the University of Puerto Rico.  Vélez is a member of the Foreign Language Association of Virginia: FLAVA and also has been a presenter of innovative bilingual education strategies at local and national conferences.

Vélez is driven to help students overcome barriers that impact their learning.  He is committed to educating students, families, and the community through establishing strong connections.  Vélez firmly believes that success in education is about building relationships.

Originally from Puerto Rico and proud of his Latin roots, Mr. Velez enjoys sports and eating authentic Hispanic food. In his free time he loves to travel with his family.
