Veronica Albecker

 

Veronica Albecker (previously known as Ms. Doody) started her formal teaching career at John Adams in 2008 teaching 2nd grade.

She earned both her bachelors in Psychology and her Masters in Elementary Education at the University of Mary Washington. Mrs. Albecker is currently pursuing a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Virginia.

One of Mrs. Albeckers most favorite things about John Adams is the diversity of all the students we work with.  She has enjoyed seeing the kids grow and develop over the years.

At home, Mrs. Albecker has two adorable sons and a full grown puppy named Duncan.  She enjoys spending time and having adventures with all of them.  Mrs. Albecker also enjoys cooking and baking yummy treats.

Denis McCourt

 

Denis (pronounced "Denise") McCourt has been teaching since 2002. Originally from Florida, she earned a B.S. of  Elementary Education with a Spanish Concentration from Pensacola Christian College.  Ms. McCourt taught in Jacksonville as a second grade teacher and in Miami as a preschool, math and reading intervention teacher. Upon moving to Virginia in 2005, she began as a computer and Spanish teacher and later returned to teaching second grade. For the past couple of years, Ms. McCourt worked as a substitute for elementary and middle school in Prince William County and also, as an ESOL teaching assistant.  

Ms. McCourt loves to spend time with her three beautiful children and enjoys hiking, going to the beach, and visiting family in FL and GA all together.

She is looking forward to being an eagle here at John Adams and working with their wonderful staff and students.

Haley Padgett

 

Haley Padgett grew up in New Hampshire, and earned her bachelor’s degree from Harvard University in 2017.  Ms. Padgett joined Teach for America after graduation and taught fourth grade in Memphis, Tennessee.  After two years, she moved to New York City and taught third grade at Success Academy Charter Schools in Harlem.

Ms. Padgett  loves reading, running and doing anything outside!

Sean Perin

 

Sean Perin has worked professionally as an educator for Detroit Public Schools and the District of Columbia Public School systems.  He has a Bachelor's degree from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, a Master's Degree from Marygrove College, and is in pursuit of another degree from Eastern Michigan University.

Sean believes that education inspires individuals to be their best person.  His hobbies are reading, cooking, and listening to music.

Karin Williams

 

Karin Williams joined the ACPS team in 2016.  Her teaching career started in 1996.  She is a graduate of Frostburg State University with an ECE-Elementary degree and a Minor in Science.  She has earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology & Instruction from UMUC. 

Mrs. Williams has a passion for teaching, stemming from her young adult years as a swim instructor and as a high school science teacher’s class assistant.  She really likes to witness the “light bulb glow” as students develop their thinking skills, especially their abilities to communicate and grow as learners.
