Internet Essential for ACPS Students
Option 1: Comcast Internet Essentials Program
ACPS has partnered with Comcast to provide eligible families with free internet at home for the 2020-2021 school year. After the application below has been submitted, ACPS will provide families with a unique promo code to sign up for free home internet through Comcast’s Internet Essentials program.
What is Comcast Essentials?
Comcast Internet Essentials is a program for families and other low-income households who currently do not subscribe to the internet at home.
Who is Eligible?
- Families interested in signing up for the program will be provided a code by ACPS. However, Comcast will determine eligibility. Families may qualify if they:
- Are eligible for public assistance programs such as the National School Lunch Program, Housing Assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, and others.
- Live in an area where Comcast Internet Service is available.
- Are not an existing Xfinity Internet customer and have not subscribed to Comcast Internet within the last 90 days.

Option 2: Request a Kajeet
Students can check out a MiFi device if they do not have internet access at home. The device is called a Kajeet and comes with a charger in a blue carrying case.
The Kajeet works from 6 a.m. – midnight and suspends internet access between midnight and 6 a.m. It goes through both the ACPS filter and the Kajeet filter. Once the device has reached its due date, it will suspend access until it is returned. To find out more about Kajeets, students can contact Student Helpdesk staff.
