    The Title I Virtual Plus School Day and After School Care Program

     During Hybrid Educational Instruction

     

    ACPS will begin transitioning to a hybrid-model of instructional education, serving select students who opted into the hybrid model onsite at their schools two days per week, as follows:

    NOTE: All transitions are contingent upon staffing, building capacity, community health metrics, and decision matrix indicators.

    • Tuesday, March 2: Reentry of hybrid students in grades K-5 receiving special education services in citywide self-contained full-day class programs, students in K-5 receiving special education reading and math services in a self-contained setting, Early Childhood Special Education students, and students in grades K-5 receiving English Learner services
    • Tuesday, March 9: Transition Hybrid Students in grades 6-12 receiving special education citywide and self-contained reading and math services, and Newcomer English Learner students in grades 6-12
    • Tuesday, March 16: Reentry of ALL remaining hybrid students in grades PreK-12

    The ACPS Virtual PLUS School-day and Afterschool Program, which provides free supervision for Title I students at designated sites, will continue to take place under the hybrid model. Students currently enrolled and being served by the Virtual PLUS Program will continue to be able to attend. Please see the below Frequently Asked Questions for more information.

    Frequently Asked Questions

     

    1. What ACPS Virtual PLUS+ School Day and Afterschool Program sites will continue to operate under the hybrid model?

    The ACPS Virtual PLUS School Day and Afterschool Program will continue to operate at the existing location and provide consistent hours and programming at the following sites:

    • Boys and Girls Club (401 N. Payne -22314)
    • Chick Armstrong Recreation Center (25 W. Reed – 22305)
    • Patrick Henry Recreation Center (4653 Taney Ave. – 22304)
    • Samuel Tucker Elementary School / YMCA Program (435 Ferdinand Day Dr. – 22304)
    • William Ramsay Recreation Center (5650 Sanger Ave. – 22311)
    • Ferdinand T. Day Elementary School (1701 N. Beauregard -22311) – See below

    While the hours and type of programming will remain consistent at the following ACPS Virtual PLUS site, the following location will change:

    FROM THE CURRENT: James K. Polk Elementary School (5000 Polk Ave. – 22304)

    TO THE NEW LOCATION:  The ACPS Virtual PLUS School-day and Afterschool Program at James K. Polk Elementary School will be moved to Ferdinand T. Day Elementary School (1701 N. Beauregard - 22311) as of March 2, 2021 to better accommodate Ferdinand T. Day students enrolled in this program. The program will be CLOSED on MARCH 1 in order to set up and organize the new classroom locations in Ferdinand T. Day. The program at Ferdinand T. Day will begin on Tuesday March 2.

     

    1. If my student will not attend the hybrid program but will remain virtual, can they continue to attend the ACPS Virtual PLUS School-day and Afterschool Program that they are currently enrolled in?

    Yes. Students whose families elected for them to stay virtual may continue to attend their designated Virtual PLUS School-day and Afterschool site, five days per week. No transportation will be provided to the site. Parents/Guardians will need to continue to provide transportation. Hours and type of programming will remain the same.

     

    1. If my student will attend the hybrid program at their school, can they continue to attend the ACPS Virtual PLUS School-day and Afterschool Program on non-hybrid days?

    Yes. Students currently being served by these programs who elected the hybrid model can continue to attend the Virtual PLUS + School-day and Afterschool site they enrolled in on non-hybrid days. No transportation will be provided to the site. Parents/Guardians will need to continue to provide transportation on these days. Hours and type of programming will remain the same.

     

    1. Will there be transportation to the Virtual PLUS School Day Care Program sites for hybrid students on non-hybrid days?

    No. While ACPS will be transporting students who need it for school on hybrid days, there will be no transportation provided on non-hybrid days for school day care programs. Parents/Guardians will need to continue to transport their child to and from the Virtual PLUS program sites on non-hybrid days.

     

    1. What about afterschool on hybrid days? Can my child attend the ACPS Virtual PLUS Program AFTER the in-person, hybrid school day?

    It depends.

    If already enrolled in the program, students attending the following schools may walk to the adjoining or nearby Virtual PLUS sites after the hybrid school days:

    • With parent/guardian permission, Cora Kelly Elementary School students that are currently enrolled in the Virtual PLUS program at Chick Armstrong Recreation Center may walk to Chick Armstrong Recreation Center after a hybrid school day. Please confirm with the recreation center staff so that they can expect your child after school on hybrid days.
    • With parent/guardian permission, Ferdinand T. Day Elementary School students that are currently enrolled in the Virtual PLUS program at James K. Polk Elementary School (relocating to Ferdinand T. Day Elementary School as of March 1, 2021) can attend the program at Ferdinand T. Day Elementary School after a hybrid school day. Please confirm with the recreation center staff so that they can expect your child after school on hybrid days.
    • With parent/guardian permission, Jefferson-Houston School students that are currently enrolled in the Virtual PLUS program at Boys and Girls Club may walk to Boys and Girls Club after a hybrid school day. Please confirm with the Boys and Girls Club staff so that they can expect your child after school on hybrid days.
    • With parent/guardian permission, Patrick Henry School students that are currently enrolled in the Virtual PLUS program at Patrick Henry Recreation Center may walk to Patrick Henry Recreation Center after a hybrid school day. Please confirm with the recreation center staff so that they can expect your child after school on hybrid days.
    • With parent/guardian permission, William Ramsay Elementary School students that are currently enrolled in the Virtual PLUS program at William Ramsay Recreation Center may walk to William Ramsay Recreation Center after a hybrid school day. Please confirm with the recreation center staff so that they can expect your child after school on hybrid days.

    Students attending any other school not listed above may be able to attend the Virtual PLUS program afterschool only if the parent/guardian transports them to the program afterschool. Please check with your specific ACPS Virtual PLUS program staff to discuss this option.

     

    1. What if I need full-day care and cannot transport my child after the hybrid school day?

    Parents/guardians who have previously selected hybrid have the option of remaining 100% virtual so that your child can attend the ACPS Virtual PLUS Program five days per week. If your family needs to make this adjustment, please contact your school to adjust from the hybrid to the virtual model. Please also confirm with the Virtual PLUS Program site staff so that they can plan for your child to be in attendance all five days.

     

    1. Are there any openings for additional students not currently enrolled in the ACPS Virtual PLUS School-day and Afterschool Program?

    1. What if I have additional questions about the ACPS Virtual PLUS School-day and Afterschool Program that my child is currently enrolled in?
