STEP 1: Create a FSA ID

Create a FSA ID info sheet

EVERY student needs a FSA ID to complete the FAFSA. One parent, if eligible, should also create a FSA ID. (If a parent does not have a social security number it is okay, they
do not need a FSA ID).*

If a parent created a FSA in the past for another child or themselves, please retrieve this FSA ID username and password. Tips on how to find a FSA ID username and password on in the FSA ID info sheet.

Eleigibility and Requirements

The 2021-2022 FAFSA goes live October 1

The FAFSA does not require essays or look at your grades!

The FAFSA does not require you to take out student loans! Grants and Scholarships are FREE $

The FAFSA DOES determine how much you qualify for in financial aid; grants, workstudy and loans.

To be eligible to complete the FAFSA the student MUST have a valid Social Security number unless from the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, or the Republic of Palau AND
Be a U.S. CITIZEN or U.S. NATIONAL-
OR have a Have a GREEN CARD/permanent resident card

OR have an Have an ARRIVAL-DEPARTURE RECORD showing refugee, asylum granted, Cuban-Haitian
Entrant (Status Pending), Conditional Entrant (valid only if issued before April 1, 1980)

Or Parolee
-
Or Have BATTERED IMMIGRANT STATUS

Or have a T-Visa or a parent with a T-1 Visa.
