Office of Equity and Alternative Programs

The Office of Equity and Alternative Programs reviews, recommends and implements policies, regulations and procedures to dismantle issues of disproportionality, diversity, cultural competency and racial inequities. Sustained professional development on racial equity and cultural competency is offered for staff, students, and the community to assist schools in monitoring issues of disproportionality and diversity.
This office supports educational equity through the focused implementation and connected approach to the Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Restorative Practices and the impact of mental health on students ability to access their education.
The Office of Equity and Alternative Programs provides direct oversight to division-level alternative programs, including the Chance for Change (CFC) Academy, Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Center (NVJDC) School, ShelterCare Home School Educational Program and serves as the liaison to the Bryant Transition Support Resource Center (TRSC).
