Transportation and Bus service
Will there be bus service available?
Due to social distancing rules on buses, the number of student seats is limited on the bus. In consultation with the school principal and parent, the Office of Pupil Transportation and Fleet Management will assign students to a bus based on completed transportation choice forms sent to transportation eligible families. ACPS encourages as many families as possible to drop off and pick up their children because of the limited number of seats available on a bus.
Are buses passing by student stops multiple times in the morning? If yes, approximately how much time between passing times, so that teachers can inform students?
Buses are running early to prepare for additional students as more students begin to come back to school in our staggered opening process. We are still working out many logistical options to minimize extended times picking up the students each morning. Any changes to route times will be communicated to families.
What if my child drives, will they be able to park at the school? Is there a need to get a parking permit and what is the cost?
For the remainder of the 20-21 school year, we will not require permits for high school students and parking for students will be free. T.C. Williams students will sign up in the school’s main office to get their parking pass/decals to display in their cars. Students must still park in the Chinquapin loop and abide by all applicable rules. Students will not be allowed to park in the garage.
What if I have additional concerns about bus service?
If you have school-specific transportation concerns, please reach out to building leadership. If you have general concerns with school bus operations, please contact the Office of Transportation and Fleet Management.
