Students will meet each day at Alexandria City High School for level-appropriate instrumental music instruction. Camp will include a guest musician visit each week and a final performance on Thursday, July 21.

Students who have not taken band or orchestra during the school year are also eligible. There will be an exploratory period during the first week for any students who do not currently play an instrument so that they can try out multiple instruments and select one to continue on for the second week.

Students who rent a school-provided instrument will coordinate with their current teacher to keep their instrument over the summer.

It is preferred that students register for both weeks. However, there is an option to only register for week 1 (students cannot only register for week 2).

This program is for current sixth-eighth grade students and is offered July 5-21, Monday-Thursday (no camp Monday, July 4). Students will meet each day at the Minnie Howard Campus of Alexandria City High School to put together a theater production. Camp will include auditions week 1 and a performance week 3.

Students will have the opportunity to learn about stage-acting, as well as many technical theater elements such as set design and build, lighting, sound, costumes, and make-up. Students will work collaboratively to rehearse, prepare, and perform a production on the Minnie Howard stage.

It is preferred that students register for all three weeks. However, there is an option to only register for weeks 1 and 2 OR weeks 2 and 3. Students cannot register for just one week. Please note that if students are unable to attend all three weeks, their role will be limited due to auditions week 1 and the performance week 3. They will either have an ensemble role or be part of the production team.
