Welcome to Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS)
New Hire (with Benefits)
We are pleased that you will be joining our ACPS family.
You are required to attend a Benefits Orientation prior to your start date. Benefits Orientation takes place in the Human Resources Department in the ACPS Central Office at:
1340 Braddock Place, 5th Floor
Alexandria, VA 22301
The length of Benefits Orientation can vary depending upon the number of attendees and the volume of questions asked. You should plan to be here for no less than three hours.
Prior to attending orientation, you should complete the following tasks:
Within 2-3 days of your offer, you will receive an email from Technology Services with directions to log into your ACPS employee email account in Zimbra. In your ACPS email, you will have received email notifications for two online checklists to complete in TalentEd. These are your Employment and Benefits Paperwork checklists, and should be completed online before you come in for benefits orientation. Please follow the link in your ACPS email account to locate and complete the paperwork. When logging into TalentEd, please follow the instructions on the screen to sign in for the first time.
Please bring the following with you to Benefits Orientation:
- Identification (see I-9 form (PDF) for acceptable document types)
- Social Security Card
- A voided check for mandatory payroll deposit
- Your TB test results
- Your printed and completed state tax form
If you are enrolling a spouse in health insurance, please bring to orientation:
- A copy of your marriage certificate
- A copy of a joint bill where both your name and your spouse's name appears
If you are enrolling your child(ren) in health insurance, please bring to orientation:
- A copy of each child's birth certificate
- Each child's social security number
To protect the health of our students, staff and community, all ACPS employees must have a Tuberculosis (TB) screening by a licensed physician or health official completed within the last 365 days. If you have not been administered a TB test within the last year, please visit a licensed health care provider to complete your Tuberculosis (TB) screening/testing prior to attending orientation. Bring documentation from your health care provider to show that you have a negative TB status. You will be responsible for any costs incurred. View a list of possible TB screening providers.
Please contact Human Resources at 703-619-8010 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions regarding Benefits Orientation. Questions about the benefits themselves can be asked during orientation.
