College and Career Center

  • Open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (summer, too!), the College and Career Center (CCC) provides information about colleges and universities, NOVA's Pathway to the Baccalaureate program, standardized testing and test preparation, financial aid and scholarships, careers, summer opportunities and more.

    The center hosts representatives from colleges and universities across the country to speak with all interested students.

    Students may request a copy of their transcript, fee waivers for SAT and ACT exams, passes to college rep visits, and more. Students are encouraged to drop by before and after school and during lunch.

    Parents are welcome to visit by appointment.

    ALEXANDRIA YOUTH LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE is now accepting applications and nominations for the 2018 Conference taking place August 13-15! This is a great FREE opportunity for incoming 9th – 12th graders residing in Alexandria who demonstrate strong leadership skills, show potential to be great leaders or who are just passionate about making a difference in the community! Applications and nominations are due by Monday, August 6.


    PLUMBER’S (PAID) APPRENTICE TRAINING - The Washington DC Joint Plumbing Apprentice Committee is accepting applications for the next school year, beginning in September. The application is online at Applicants must be 18. Required prior to scheduling an entry exam: birth certificate or passport, driver's license or state-issued ID card, HS diploma or GED certificate, official transcript or GED test scores. There is a $50 application fee. Study guide is available by sending $15 money order or GAN Human Resources Associates, P.O. Box 6111, Bloomingdale, IL 60108-6111 (allow two weeks for delivery).

    CENTER FOR EMPLOYMENT TRAINING offers certification programs in building maintenance, HVAC and medical assistance at their location in Alexandria (Edsall Rd). CET “training programs will help put you on a path to getting a good job and a steady paycheck. And we offer unparalleled job placement assistance. CET trains in an individualized environment using a unique “open-entry” admissions process – there are no semesters or quarters. This means you can start when you are ready to go. You will be well trained and ready to enter the workforce when you graduate.” Learn more at:

    TOGETHER WE BAKE trains women who are interested in baking, food safety, business administration and empowerment! Together We Bake is a job training and personal development program for women in need of the skills, confidence and hands-on experience to obtain and retain employment. Team members also receive instruction in ServSafe (food safety) which results in certification. Our program is based in Old Town Alexandria and takes place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM. Our summer session will be held from July 10 - August 16.  Learn more at:
