College and Career Center
Open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (summer, too!), the College and Career Center (CCC) provides information about colleges and universities, NOVA's Pathway to the Baccalaureate program, standardized testing and test preparation, financial aid and scholarships, careers, summer opportunities and more.
The center hosts representatives from colleges and universities across the country to speak with all interested students.
Students may request a copy of their transcript, fee waivers for SAT and ACT exams, passes to college rep visits, and more. Students are encouraged to drop by before and after school and during lunch.
Parents are welcome to visit by appointment.

ALEXANDRIA YOUTH LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE is now accepting applications and nominations for the 2018 Conference taking place August 13-15! This is a great FREE opportunity for incoming 9th – 12th graders residing in Alexandria who demonstrate strong leadership skills, show potential to be great leaders or who are just passionate about making a difference in the community! Applications and nominations are due by Monday, August 6.
ICAP SURVEY IS LIVE AND REQUIRED FOR 9TH, 10TH AND 11TH GRADE STUDENTS - All 9th - 11th grade students must complete the ICAP survey by June 8. SUMMER MATH ENRICHMENT AT GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY - 2018 Summer Enrichment in Math at George Mason University (703-973-6889 and firstname.lastname@example.org). The purpose of the program is to offer non-credit enrichment courses for students entering 7th - 12th grade in an accelerated learning environment. Participants must have a B average in the most recent math course. Cost is $200 for five half-day sessions at George Mason's Fairfax campus. Courses available in Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2 with Trig, PreCalculus, Calculus, Beyond BC Calculus. Registration forms available in the College and Career Center.

CHARLENE’S KITCHEN is hiring a photographer (rising senior or new graduate who will nearby throughout next year) for creative and event photography and editing. Position is part-time, Wednesday - Saturday afternoons/evenings (depending on event schedule), approximately 10-20 hours per week. PLUMBER’S (PAID) APPRENTICE TRAINING - The Washington DC Joint Plumbing Apprentice Committee is accepting applications for the next school year, beginning in September. The application is online at local5plumbers.org. Applicants must be 18. Required prior to scheduling an entry exam: birth certificate or passport, driver's license or state-issued ID card, HS diploma or GED certificate, official transcript or GED test scores. ALEXANDRIA VISITOR CENTER is hiring part-time staff to work this summer AND through the next school year as Visitor Center Information Specialists. Duties include giving directions, recommending historic sites to see, transportation options, providing material and tickets. Must be familiar with Alexandria and have strong communication and computer skills. Minimum of 28 hours per month including at least one weekend day. Center hours are Sunday-Wednesday 10am-6pm, and 10am-8pm Thursday-Saturday through September, and then 10am - 5pm, 7 days/week for the winter. Together We Bake is a job training and personal development program for women in need of the skills, confidence and hands-on experience to obtain and retain employment. Team members also receive instruction in ServSafe (food safety) which results in certification.
