Community Partnerships

  • ACPS strives to cultivate relationships and maintain partnerships with public and private agencies to encourage a sense of community ownership of our schools, assist the development of the academic, social, physical and emotional needs of our students and empower parents to be supportive and informed advocates for their children.

  • Local Motion

Local Motion partners with ACPS to bring dance integration programming into the school day.

They currently partner with grades 2, 4, and 5 at Mount Vernon Community School. They work with their social studies curricula teaching lessons that integrate National Core Arts Standards in Dance with Virginia Social Studies SOLs. Teaching SOL content and dance standards together requires students to use oral, aural and kinesthetic modalities of learning all at the same time, creating richer understanding in both subject areas.
