There will be no school for all Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) students on Mon., Oct. 12, 2026, a federal holiday.

At the Oct. 8, 2026 Alexandria City School Board meeting, the School Board announced the appointment of Dr. Jharrett Bryantt as the next superintendent of Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS), effective Feb. 1, 2027.

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is showing continued progress under Virginia’s School Performance and Support Framework (SPSF), with gains in student achievement, attendance, English learner progress and overall school performance.

The School Communication Performance Evaluation (SCOPE) Survey is now open through Oct. 30, 2026, and we encourage students, staff, and families to take a few minutes to share their feedback on ACPS communications.

There is still time to plan to join Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) as we welcome and celebrate the newest class of inductees into the 2026 ACPS Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place Sat., Oct. 10, 2026, at 2 p.m. in the Main Gym at the Alexandria City High School (ACHS) King Street Campus.
