Annette Lee Appointed Francis C. Hammond Director of Counseling

Annette Lee

Annette Lee takes on the director of counseling position at Francis C. Hammond Middle School (Hammond), effective Oct. 20, 2025. In this role, Lee will assist the principal in achieving goals in all areas of guidance and student testing. She will also be responsible for carrying out administrative functions as they pertain to the guidance and testing process.

Lee, a highly dedicated and committed educator, served as Hammond’s dean of students since August of 2022. In that role, she collaborated with teachers and the Student Support Team (SST) to foster students' overall success. Lee also coordinated school safety protocols and emergency response procedures in collaboration with administration and staff. Her expertise is in building relationships with students, parents, colleagues and community for the betterment of all students. 

Before coming to Hammond, Lee was the administrative designee at the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Chance for Change Academy. Since joining ACPS in 1996, Lee also served as a professional school counselor for alternative education grades 6-12, and also carried out the role of that position at the high school and middle school level. Lee has also previously served as a seventh grade social studies teacher for the New York City Board of Education. 

Lee earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in forensic psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She holds a Master of Science in school counseling from Brooklyn College. She also completed the George Mason University, Prince William County Cohort Educational Leadership program.
