Champions of Children Awards Ceremony

Seven Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) staff members and partners were among the honorees at the Sixth Annual Children, Youth and Families Collaborative Commission (CYFCC) Champions of Children Awards. 

ACPS Award Recipients

Instructional Specialist Kristin Donley is an educator who helps create safe and supportive school environments as she leads health and physical education programs across Alexandria schools. Donley listens to student voices and helps improve programs to meet their needs. Her leadership helps students feel informed, safe and supported in school.

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Elective Teacher Jennifer Tutuska is a middle school teacher who has served students in Alexandria for over 25 years. She believes students thrive when they feel heard and empowered, giving students the opportunity to lead projects, teach others and explore their strengths. She also supports inclusion and fairness in her school, helping create positive learning environments.

Champions of Children celebrates unsung heroes who advance the goals of Alexandria’s Children and Youth Community Plan in the areas of health and safety, academic success and career readiness, and positive experiences. This City of Alexandria award honors local leaders and advocates who work to improve the well-being of youth and families. 

Awards were presented during a reception on June 10, 2026, at the Del Pepper Community Resource Center.
