Dr. Lisa Calero - Appointed Assistant Principal at Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School

Dr. Lisa Calero takes on the role of assistant principal at Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School (Tucker), effective July 14, 2025. 

“Dr. Calero is an experienced instructional leader with a deep commitment to student success, building strong relationships and supporting our staff and families,” said Principal Jerylen Lavender Daniels. “She is no stranger to many in our community. Her passion for equity, academic excellence and social-emotional development aligns perfectly with Tucker’s mission and values.”

Dr. Calero served as a data and compliance specialist for the Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Office of Specialized Instruction since August 2021 and was instrumental in developing and facilitating professional development on standards-based Individualized Education Programs (IEP).

Prior to joining ACPS, she served as a special education teacher and specialist in various states including North Carolina and Florida and an English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) teacher in Virginia.

Dr. Calero received her Bachelor of Arts in elementary education at Florida Christian College in Kissimmee, Florida. She has a Master of Education in Exceptional Student Education from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah. She earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Special Education Leadership and Administration at Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
