Important Calendar Update for April 21, 2026

All Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) will be closed for students on Tue., April 21, 2026, due to the special election taking place that day. For staff, this will be a work day.

The School Board voted on this change at the March 26, 2026 meeting in a move to prioritize the safety of our students while supporting the community’s ability to participate in the election process.

A significant number of our schools serve as polling locations, and this particular election is expected to bring a higher than usual number of voters to our school buildings. Given the projected increase in foot traffic, it would be challenging to safely manage both normal school operations and the large volume of community members entering our facilities throughout the day.
