Kindergarten and New Student Registration Information

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) kindergarten registration process has been underway for the 2026-27 school year since April 15, 2026, for all ACPS elementary schools. We encourage families to register early as it helps to ensure the school division has the teachers, staff and resources needed to support every student.

Since April 15, 2026, families have been able to use the new student registration webpage to check that their child meets the age requirements and to learn about the required documents for registration in the upcoming school year. To find your family’s school zone, use the attendance zone locator tool. Please note that new attendance boundaries are in effect for the upcoming school year. Families are encouraged to use the locator tool to verify the school their child will attend.

Kindergarten and elementary school open houses were held in April and continue to be held in May to provide families with the opportunity to learn more about their child’s school. Visit the website for your school for additional details, including information about kindergarten registration, which is available on the ACPS website.

Families should use the online student registration form for the 2026-27 school year, which became available April 15, 2026. Support is available in the top five languages spoken in order to assist families throughout the registration process. If a family has any issues or questions about how to register their child, they should call their boundary school’s registrar for assistance. 

Once the family has completed the online registration form, the next step is to call the school or contact the school registrar to schedule a time to visit and present all the necessary documents for in-person confirmation in order to complete the registration process.
