Alexandria Public Library: Beginner and intermediate English conversation

Weekly Sessions at Different Library Locations

Improve your English speaking skills. The Alexandria Library invites everyone interested to join a conversation group to practice English and gain confidence. No registration is needed.

ALIVE! Pop-Up Food Distributions

ALIVE! is a local not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency and basic needs support to children, families and individuals living in poverty and with hunger in the City of Alexandria. ALIVE! distributes bags of food to Alexandria City residents. No ID is required. Check out the Food Hub and Distribution Schedules to see which one is closer to you. 

Alexandria Fall-O-Ween at John Carlyle Square

Sat., Nov. 1, 2025 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

John Carlyle Square Park (300 John Carlyle St)

Get ready for a family-friendly Halloween celebration at Alexandria Fall-O-Ween! Enjoy handmade arts and crafts, delicious seasonal treats, a kids’ costume parade at 1 p.m., and a pets’ costume parade at 3 p.m. Families can also enjoy pumpkin painting, face painting and other fall activities. Admission is free.The event will take place rain or shine.

ALX Jazz Fest Pop Up Market at Four Mile Run 

Sun., Nov. 2, 2025  Noon-2 p.m. 

Four Mile Run Plaza (4121 Mt. Vernon Ave)

A pop-up concert series is coming to Arlandria, bringing music and art directly into the community. This free event features interactive art activations, live jazz performances and spoken word artists honoring America’s original art form.
