School Board Policy Revisions

At the Alexandria City School Board meeting on Oct. 23, 2025, the School Board amended four policies and the superintendent amended two regulations. The following is a summary of the key changes; details are available on BoardDocs.

DJFA - Purchasing Procedures for Public-Private Construction Services

  • Five-Year Review.
  • Standard changes.

DJG - Vendor Relations

  • Five-Year Review.
  • Standard changes.
  • Clarified that solicitations must come through the Procurement Office.
  • Minor reorganization.

DK - Payment Procedures

  • Five-Year Review.
  • Standard changes.
  • Clarified that records of payments are maintained.
  • Relocated reporting requirements to Policy DI - Financial Accounting and Reporting

DLC - Expense Reimbursements

DLC-R - Travel Regulations Business Meals Procedures

  • Five-Year Review.
  • Standard changes.
  • Clarified that expenses can be for professional learning and expenses incurred as part of assigned duties.
  • Split the regulation into regulation and manual.
  • Created new content for the regulation to set up the manual details.

JOA-R - Student Transcript Regulations

  • Requested review.
  • Revised processes for removing standardized tests and courses taken at middle school.
  • Added processes for transfer students.

ACPS has over 400 policies and regulations which are systematically revised prior to being presented to the School Board for information. The revision process includes alignment with the associated VSBA model policy, alignment with the Code of Virginia, an equity review, a legal review, revisions by a team of staff members, a Senior Leadership Team review and a School Board Policy Committee review. Public input on proposed revisions is taken at School Board Policy Committee meetings and regular School Board meetings.
